Ilminster is just a short drive from Taunton and Chard. In the town you will find Barrington Court which is well worth a visit - enchanting gardens that are filled with wonderfully scented flowers and plants, a working kitchen garden and a lovely Tudor Manor House.
For those who wish to drive around there are plenty of hills and walks to be had here - the Blackdown Hills are just a short drive away and make for a wonderful place to take those photos and simply enjoy a hike.
Not too far from Yeovil where you can enjoy a multitude of shopping - there are two shopping centres there - Glovers Walk and Quedam Shopping Centre - both have a number of mainstream outlets and plenty of places to have coffee and that well earned leisurely lunch.
If you have the children with you then take them to Yeovil Alpine Village or Jungle Jungle - they can let off some steam and enjoy the adventures and leisure facilities.
Afternoon teas, pleasant walks and discovering the Somerset hills makes for a very pleasant change.
