Situated on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park we are surrounded by some of England's most stunning scenery and by some of the most interesting and exciting attractions. A hotel of great charm and character we provide a welcoming base for exploring the county of Yorkshire.
Although the Black Swan is now one superb building, its history is possible one of the most unusual. Part of the building was originally built as a Tudor Rectory, coaching house was added during Elizabethan times, and later a Georgian country house. The current building is a composition of all three, with them being joined to create a veritable warren of corridors, small rooms and lounges for guests to enjoy.
Set in the small town of Helmsley we are right on the border of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and as well as the spectacular scenery there are many interesting and historic places to visit, with Castle Howard, Duncombe Park and Rievaulx Abbey all within easy reach.
We have a range of accommodation available, with forty five twin and double rooms, each one different in design, decoration and furnishing. All rooms have their own en-suite bathroom plus all of the latest in modern facilities, including colour TV, fax machine and modem connection.
Our stylish Rutland Restaurant is renown for the consistently excellent quality of its food, with all of the dishes prepared freshly from only the finest locally produced ingredients by our talented and imaginative chef.
If you are in the area on business, to explore the many attractions or to just relax and unwind away from the stresses of modern life, then we could have the ideal place for you.
