 Overlooking the picturesque village green in the traditional English village of Sedlescombe, our wonderfully welcoming establishment is full of charm and character. Just a short drive from the coast and only minutes from the historic town of Battle, the area is steeped in history and surrounded by many interesting and exciting things to see and do.
With the main part of the house dating back to the time of the Tudors, built in around 1597, the house and its history is an eclectic mix of styles and fortunes. Originally built as the home of the local ironmaster, it has gone through many changes before it finally became the superb country house hotel that you now find. From the outside the house is impressive, on the inside it is superb, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that greets you as you enter, you will enjoy the genuinely warm hospitality that brings our guests back time after time.
Our location is perfect for exploring the region and the many attractions that are nearby. For those interested in history there are many important places within easy reach, but not all the attractions are ancient, there are many more modern things to keep visitors of all ages amused.
We have forty bright and airy rooms that each have their own unique character, as with all houses of this age the rooms are highly individual and the style of decoration has been designed to enhance this. But whether you choose a single, twin or double room you will enjoy the cosy and peaceful ambiance that all of our rooms have. All of our rooms are en-suite and have all of the facilities that you would expect from an establishment of this quality and, if you are here for a special occasion, we have a magnificent four poster bed that adds that little extra something to your stay.
We are especially proud of our dinning room. oak panelled and with original oak beams the atmosphere is rich and enchanting - a superb setting in which to enjoy the finest cuisine freshly created from only the finest ingredients.
