Our unique position in the centre of Britain's widest High street makes us the perfect location for sight seeing in the town of Marlborough, which itself has much to offer, or as a base for exploring the exceptional range of interesting and exciting attractions of the surrounding area.
The site has been occupied by an Inn since the 15th century and some of the oak timbers that make up part of the current building, pre-date the Spanish Armada. So it is not surprising that the Castle and Ball, like much of the surrounding area, is steeped in history.
We have 32 comfortable rooms that all have their own individual charm and character. They have all been uniquely designed and richly furnished to reflect the historic nature of our establishment. Although great care has been taken to retain the history and heritage of the building, our guests will find everything that todays traveller expects from a hotel of this quality. All the rooms have en-suite, tea/coffee, TV and access to the internet.
Our restaurant has a split level design and offers an extensive menu, with a wide range of freshly prepared meals, and an extensive range of fine wines, which we are certain will satisfy even the most discerning palette.
In Marlbourough there are excellent shops to browse at your leisure, and the Merchants House, where you can experience how middle class people from the 17th century really lived. A little further afield are Silbury Hill the massive man-made hill that still hides its ancient secrets; West Kennet Long Barrow, an iron age burial tomb; and the pre-historic site of Avebury, with its stone circle that rivals even the world famous Stonehenge, all of these are within easy driving distance.
