This delightful and award winning establishment, standing in the market place in the town of Castle Combe, can trace its ancestry back to the 12th century. Now it has been carefully and considerately refurbished to provide visitors to the area with a superb standard of accommodation, cuisine and service.
With a history that stretches back to the 12th century it is to be expected that our establishment has seen many famous events, and our Oliver's Restaurant is named after Oliver Cromwell, who once took refuge from Royalist troops within the buildings stout walls.
Now it has undergone careful and considerate restoration to bring it into the 21st century, whilst retaining the charm, history and heritage it has collected over the years, and many of the original construction features still remain today.
We have 11 charming rooms that are individual decorated and furnished to enhance the period feel and atmosphere of the building. All of our rooms are comfortable, en-suite and have all the facilities that you would expect from a hotel of this obvious quality : TV, hospitality tray (tea/coffee), telephone etc.
Oliver's Restaurant offers elegant and stylish surroundings in which you can enjoy the superb cuisine, prepared freshly for you by our Chef, accompanied by a fine wine from our cellar.
Or, if you prefer, you can eat in the bar area. There you can choose from our bar snack menu of light meals, or from our A La Carte menu served in the comfortable and relaxed surrounding.
There are many places of interest for you to visit during your stay, the beautiful historic city of Bath; Bowood House and Gardens; Castle Combe race track; and the National Trust Village of Lacock, (where you can visit the Abbey where Harry Potter was filmed) are all within easy driving distance.
