Originally built in 1561 as a magnificent country house, our wonderful establishment offers the ultimate in charm, sophistication and elegance. Although, as you would expect, many changes to the building have taken place over almost five hundred years, great care has been taken to ensure that the original character and ambiance still remains. A long with the olde worlde charm and antique furniture you will also find that the establishment has retained the old values of attention to detail and attentive service from courteous and friendly staff, a feature that is often forgotten in larger, more modern hotels.
We have 16 wonderfully proportioned and superbly comfortable rooms that have all been individually decorated and furnished with period furniture and fittings to give them their own unique character. Each room also has the latest in modern technology to make sure that all of our guests have everything they need to make their stay comfortable and convenient, including en-suite bathroom with bath or shower and complimentary toiletries; central heating; opening windows; direct dial telephone with modem connection allowing you to connect to the internet; AM/FM radio alarm clock; sitting area; colour TV with all the news channels; tea and coffee making facilities and a choice of full English or Continental buffet breakfast is included in the cost of the room. Non smoking rooms are available on request.
We have an excellent restaurant where the finest food is served in relaxed and informal surroundings and a bar where you can enjoy an aperitif before you dine, or just relax and chat with friends with a drink from the bar.
The manicured grounds form a perfect backdrop for wedding photographs, and we can supply the complete package of wedding ceremony, flowers, reception meal and entertainment.
