Today our privately owned and operated establishment provides our guests with the finest in comfortable, well equipped accommodation, excellent food, first class facilities and attentive service from professional, friendly and helpful staff, but with a history of over five hundred years of welcoming visitors to our area, this is perhaps no more than you would expect. The hotel was originally built in 1497 as a Coaching Inn and has been providing weary travellers with good food and accommodation ever since.
Although many changes to the building have taken place over the years to ensure that we continue to provide our guests with the very best in accommodation and the latest facilities, much of the character of the original building still remains.
In our restaurant you can enjoy the charm and cosy ambiance of the beamed ceiling and walls as you dine on some of the finest cuisine you will find. With a choice of Table d'hote or A La Carte menu there is a wide choice of excellent English and International dishes all created from the freshest, local ingredients by our award winning Chef.
