A short drive and you are soon at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park and Leighton Buzzard Light Railway.
There is some good shopping over in Dunstable, Hemel Hempstead and regular trains in to London if you want to venture in to the West End.
For the golfers there's a choice - Woburn Golf Club or Stockwood Park Golf Club. Stockwood Country Park is well worth a visit and houses the Mossman Collection of horse-drawn vehicles and has displays of gardens with different styles going back over the centuries.
