 The picturesque village Deddington is located between Oxford and Banbury, the gateway to the Cotswolds and in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. Deddington is a ancient and historic traditional English village that can trace its beginnings back to the 6th century. Soon after the Norman Conquest Deddington Castle was commissioned by Bishop Odo of Bayeaux, who was half brother to King William I. The vallum and earthworks of this castle can still be seen today at the castle grounds. Coming forward several hundred years King Charles I famously stayed in the village after the battle of Cropredy and Piers Gaveston was imprisoned in the Castle House.
Our warm and welcoming establishment has been part of the village since the 16th century when it stood on the main coaching road and gave shelter and food to travellers passing through the area.
