Built in the 19th century as a splendid Victorian Country House, it was sympathetically refurbished for the new millennium, with great care being taken to ensure that the uniquely Victorian charm of the building was retained. The result is a superb hotel that is full of authentic character, yet has all of the modern conveniences that the modern traveller expects to find in their choice of accommodation.
As you approach through the well kept grounds for the first time, it is hard not to be impressed by the magnificence of the building. This continues as you enter into the reception and you are greeted by a member of our dedicated and friendly staff.
We have a range of accommodation available, from a single room to an executive suite. Whichever you choose you can be certain that all of our rooms are superbly comfortable, have a peaceful and soothing ambiance and a high level of state of the art facilities.
There is a choice of places to dine, Tockett's is our fine dinning restaurant, with a wide selection of exquisite dishes all created by our talented chef from the finest ingredients, perfectly presented and served in an elegant and refined atmosphere. The Main Hall and Drawing Room provide a more relaxed venue for enjoying lighter, although still perfectly prepared, presented and wonderfully tasty, meals.
In the evening the Library Bar is a popular place to sit and unwind in comfortable surroundings. An ideal place to meet people and discuss the events of the day.

Good stuff: we stayed in the Rose Room which we can fully reccomend- it has a lovely peacefull feel to the room.Excellent views and very pleasant surroundings.

Bad stuff: the only fault for us was that there was no pool, but the overall ambience of the hotel made up for this little shortfall.

Overall + Stuff we would like to have known: All the staff are very welcoming, polite and friendly, the Hotel itself is a stunning victorian hall very well decorated and maintained, the breakfast was delicious( no grease at all on the cooked breakfasts). The hotel cat is very friendly too and loves to come and snuggle up on your knee. Overall a very NICE hotel, one that we could fully reccomend.
