Picture of Hazlewood Castle Hotel

With all of the character of a genuinely ancient castle, blended carefully with the modern facilities that we know our guests look for in their choice of accommodation, Hazelwood Castle offers a distinctly different lifestyle experience. Imagine what life was like in the 11th century as you enjoy the comforts of today.

The first recordings of a Castle on this site was in the Doomsday Book, in 1086, when it was the home of a Saxon - Sir Mauger the Vavasour. Since then its rich and varied history can be traced to the present owners who purchased it in 1996 and after extensive and sympathetic refurbishment opened it as a hotel in 1997. As you would imagine with a building of this age its history is littered with bloodshed and romance and it is this richness of history that has created its unique atmosphere and, if tales are to be believed, the many ghostly sightings that occur both inside and outside the building.
When you arrive, by drive through the seventy seven acres of gardens and woodland in which the castle stands, it is hard not to be impressed by the appearance of the building and as you are greeted by one of our cheerful and friendly staff, the cares and stresses of the real world will already be fading away.
We have twenty one rooms with a variety of accommodation types, from single rooms to executive suites. Because of the design of the building all of our rooms are different and have their own very special character and each room has been individually decorated to enhance this character and create a warm and soothing ambiance.
Our relaxed restaurant Anise offers a wide selection of dishes with a distinctly French flavour and is open throughout the day
