Originally opened in 1862 our magnificent Grade II listed building has been carefully and sympathetically improved over the years and now provides the finest in stylish, luxurious and comfortable accommodation for our guests. Our convenient location close to the centre of Sheffield is perfect for exploring the many delights of this thriving, diverse and popular city. There are many interesting places to visit just a few minutes journey from our door; the Meadowhall Shopping Centre has hundreds of retail outlets that include most of the major high street names; The Hallam FM Arena, host to many famous name concerts and if you like stunning scenery and clean country air the Peak District National Park is just a fifteen minute drive away.
Our welcoming establishment has a history that stretches back to mid Victorian times when it opened as a state-of-the-art hotel, with 100 rooms it was the premier place to stay. Now, almost 150 years later we still maintain this enviable position. We are continually up-grading and improving the facilities and services we provide for our guests and you will find a pleasant blend of olde-worlde charm and modern technology. We still have 100 comfortable and stylish rooms, which now include 33 family rooms, 31 executive rooms and the truly sumptuous '1862 Suite'. For your convenience each room is equipped with everything you need to make your stay with us a pleasant and enjoyable experience, including en-suite bathroom with bath or shower; hairdryer; radio alarm clock; direct dial telephone; remote control colour TV with movie channels; smoke detectors; in room safe; security chain on the front door and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. Non smoking rooms are available on request.
Our Victorian style restaurant is full of character and offers a superb atmosphere to enjoy the excellent food that is prepared by our talented and imaginative Chef and served with a smile to your table by our friendly and courteous staff. We can cater for most dietary needs and should you have any special requirements, diabetic, lactose free, low sodium etc. please inform us.
