Our impressive hotel was built as a country house some time in the 18th century and has a long and interesting history. in 1793 the property passed into the hands of one Thomas Baldwin, whose exploits as a pioneer balloonist are famous and are chronicled in a display inside the hotel. Since it was built almost three hundred years ago, there have been many alterations and additions, including the magnificent conservatory which was added in the 19th century and now houses our Atrium restaurant. Standing in five acres of wonderfully mature grounds, with shady lawns and shrubberies which create an ideal place for a relaxing walk before dinner, or to sit with a good book and enjoy the summer sun shine in peace and tranquillity.
We have 97 well proportioned and supremely comfortable single, twin and double rooms, each one stylishly decorated using soft fabrics, superbly comfortable furniture and harmonising colours to create the perfect ambiance for an enjoyable stay.
