Our superb 17th century country house was lovingly converted into what has become one of the islands leading hotels. Set in the quiet parish of St Martin, just a couple of miles from St Peter's Port, our guests have easy access to many beautiful coves and bays on the islands south coast.
In the 17th century the then owner of this magnificent country house was captured by Barbary Coast pirates and held to ransom, hence the name 'Le Barbarie'. The pirates have long since gone, but the peace, tranquillity and breathtaking scenery that was here then, over two hundred years ago, still remains.
Lovingly converted into a hotel around 1950, the quiet charm and unique character of our establishment has gained an enviable reputation in every aspect of its operation. The building is full of original features, with oak beam, original stone walls and a relaxed and calm ambiance that only time can create; although many modern amenities have been installed to make sure we keep pace with our guests requirements, the unique atmosphere of the original country house can still be felt.
Each of our 32 spacious and well equipped rooms has its own special character and a peaceful, relaxing ambiance, the perfect place to relax after a tiring day touring the island or sunbathing in one of the many secluded coves.
We believe that food is to be enjoyed, and nowhere is this more evident than in our La Barbarie restaurant. Our award winning menu is created by our talented and imaginative chef from only the very finest and freshest local ingredients. Our sea food selection is famous throughout the island but whatever you choose you can be certain of a culinary treat.
