Highbridge dates back to the Roman period - archaeological evidence has proved this. It is the town where the Great Western Railway line began and sits on the abandoned Glastonbury Canal.

Get out and do some exploring around the countryside and discover some of the sites around and about. Not too far from Bath and Bristol so there's plenty of scope to shop and treat yourself. Shows, theatre and music with an abundance of themed pubs, bars and clubs with a lively social scene - particularly in Bristol.

For children there are a number of adventures and explorations to be made in the surrounding area with Longleat Safari Park where they will delight in the butterfly garden, Adventure Castle and Railway as well as seeing many wild animals.

Head over to Glastonbury and visit the Abbey and see Stonehenge - visited by thousands of people from all over the world - this is truly a pilgrim spot.
