Our splendid establishment has an extraordinary history that stretches back to the end of the reign of Queen Victoria. Originally it was built as a row of three large and imposing Victorian houses and each was privately owned until around 1959, when they were purchased and turned into the elegant establishment you will find today. Legend has it that many famous people have stayed here, including the infamous Kray twins, although exactly why they were in this part of the country no one is quite sure.
The hotel is full of original charm and character, with a relaxing and calming ambiance, with each of our 30 well proportioned, elegantly decorated and supremely comfortable rooms having its own special charm.
