A warm and welcoming atmosphere as you allow our very well trained staff to deal with the professional business of checking you in efficiently and ensuring you are aware of your surroundings and the facilities on offer.
Set in beautiful woodland that expands over 78 acres you are treated to a time of tranquillity and relaxation where you can quite simply wander, meander, sit and contemplate, take beautiful photos and spend quality time with your loved one. The chance to talk, catch up and refresh your mind.
Our establishment dates back to Georgian times and was built in 1814 for the famous Sir William Douglas and Dame Grace Johnstone and their great grandson John Sholto Douglas - the 8th Marquis of Queensberry. Best known for realising the Queensberry boxing rules which are likely to have been formulated in this very house. An interesting history with many fine features and characteristics to enjoy and learn from. Notice the ornate wood work, pannelling and cornices and our elegant staircase. A splash of colour and well chosen art work completes a place of harmony and relaxation.
We are close enough for you to reach the main towns of Lockerbie, Dumfries and Castle Douglas as you discover the markets, shops, heritage sites and beautiful countryside.
