Putting a date on our magnificent establishment is difficult, originally built as a Ferryman's Cottage way back in the sixteenth century, over the years it has been extended and improved, with many unusual features evolving. A wonderfully relaxing ambiance, superb dinning, real cask ale and friendly, efficient service await you when you when you stay at the Red Lion, by the Bridge at Burnsall.

Set in a genuine sixteenth century building on the banks of the River Wharfe, there is a wonderfully warm and rich atmosphere that greets all of our guests when they arrive. There are many quirky features that make staying here a unique experience, one being the horse watering trough that once stood outside the front door and is now part of the stone steps up to the bedrooms inside, apparently it was easier to build around it than to move it when the building was extended.
The lounge bar is a focal point for locals and guests, traditionally panelled in English oak by local craftsmen it is full of charm and character.When the weather is cool a real log fire is made to warm you and create an ambiance that is wonderfully cheerful and welcoming. The perfect place to spend an evening with friends or enjoying one of our cask conditioned real ales or fine wines, for which we have become renown.
Our popular Brasserie offers a wide choice of dishes that are all freshly prepared from only the freshest, locally produced ingredients, the game comes from a local estate and the meat and poultry come from farms that are only only a stones throw away.
We have fifteen single and double rooms that are all individual in character and design. Each one is tastefully decorated and elegantly comfortable, an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
