 Our location in the ancient and beautiful city of Colchester is ideal for business and leisure travellers. Although we are located in the heart of this magnificent ancient town, close to all of the many attractions and business districts, we are on the banks of the River Colne - ideal for jogging to working up a sweat before breakfast or a leisurely stroll through the superb Castle Park to work up an appetite before dinner.
The first written reference to the town of Colchester was in AD77 when a Roman scholar refereed to 'Camulodunum' the Roman name for Colchester. This gives Colchester its claim to fame as the oldest known fixed settlement in Britain.
Our wonderful establishment is not quite that old but it has stood here since it was built in Tudor times(1604). The building has of course changed in its four hundred year history, but much of the original structure still remains and gives it its wonderfully rich ambiance. You will be met by your host or one of their highly professional, courteous and wonderfully friendly staff. From the moment you arrive we will do all we can to ensure that you time here is comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable.
