Like the city of Plymouth itself, the Royal Fleet Club has had a long association with the sea and the Royal Navy. We can trace our links with the Navy back to 1853. Plymouth's association with the sea and as a Naval Base is much longer and its history is well chronicled, On Plymouth Hoe Sir Francis Drake played his infamous game of bowls as the Spanish Armada came over the same horizon as you can see now, and from the quay side the Pilgrim Fathers boarded the Mayflower at the start of their journey to a new life in the New World. But not all of the attractions are historic, there are many modern things to see and do, with excellent shopping, theatres, restaurants and a vibrant nightlife that has something to suit all tastes.
