The history of this beautiful town is littered with bloody battles, witch trials, mad priest and Victorian industrialists who have all helped to create the wonderfully rich architecture and atmosphere of Maidstone. Situated about half way between the city of London and the port of Dover we are in the very heart of the county that is called the 'Garden of England'. From our central location you can travel around the many interesting place nearby, such as Canterbury, with its magnificent cathedral, Margate, Folkstone and Hastings which are all within easy travelling distance.
Our superb establishment was originally converted in 1716 to serve as a residence for high court judges in opulent style. although there have been many alterations over the years, much of the original charm and character of the building still remains, and surrounded by oak panelling and low beams it is still possible to imagine how these people lived, as they sat before a log fire with a glass of wine or a good port.
