England's smallest county is also one of England's most beautiful. Often referred to as 'the most English county in England' it has much to see and do and probably the most famous of these attractions is Rutland Water. Rutland Water is the largest man made lake in Europe and is now a conservation area, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Mecca for water sport enthusiasts with sailing, windsurfing and angling included in the list of popular activities.
We are right in the heart of the town of Oakham, located in the Market Place and central to all of the towns amenities. Originally built in the 17th century our warm and welcoming establishment has a cosy and intimate atmosphere and is full of charm and character with ancient oak beams, fireplaces and many other original features.
All of our 24 well appointed and elegantly decorated rooms have a calm and soothing ambiance, enhanced by the use of rich, harmonising colours and soft, warm fabrics: the ideal place to return to after a long and tiring day.
