We are located in the county town of Oakham, in the heart of the beautiful Rutland countryside and in the perfect position for travelling around our region for pleasure, to visit the counties many attractions or on business. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation, genuinely warm hospitality and an excellent choice of dinning.

England's smallest county is also one of England's most beautiful. Often referred to as 'the most English county in England' it has much to see and do and probably the most famous of these attractions is Rutland Water. Rutland Water is the largest man made lake in Europe and is now a conservation area, an area of outstanding natural beauty and a Mecca for water sport enthusiasts with sailing, windsurfing and angling included in the list of popular activities.
We are right in the heart of the town of Oakham, located in the Market Place and central to all of the towns amenities. Originally built in the 17th century our warm and welcoming establishment has a cosy and intimate atmosphere and is full of charm and character with ancient oak beams, fireplaces and many other original features.
All of our 24 well appointed and elegantly decorated rooms have a calm and soothing ambiance, enhanced by the use of rich, harmonising colours and soft, warm fabrics: the ideal place to return to after a long and tiring day. Each room is equipped with all of the facilities the modern traveller has come to expect in their choice of accommodation en-suite bathroom; colour TV; central heating; windows that you can open; a work area with desk, lamp and direct dial telephone; trouser press; hairdryer; smoke detectors and tea and coffee making facilities.
We have a comfortable bar and lounge where you can enjoy a drink before going in to dine. We offer a choice of dinning with our traditional George Restaurant and the newer and more contemporary No. 5 Brasserie - whichever you prefer you can be certain of superb food, perfectly prepared and served with a smile.

Good stuff: A spacious room with comfortable armchairs. The hotel was right in the heart of the town and cosy.

Bad stuff: The bed was two singles pushed together but still comfortable.

Overall + Stuff we would like to have known: The break was very nice in a lovely part of the country with very helpful staff and the food was excelent. It is an old building with no lift access to the third floor, this did not bother us but could have been difficult for older people. We did ot get or free bottle of wine, but then we never asked for it. We will no doubt reyrn there again.
