With an authentic atmosphere our 17th century coaching inn provides a convenient location for visitors to our area, with easy access to Oxford, Banbury and many other interesting places to visit.
We are set in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, in a small and picturesque English village that is surrounded by the magnificent Oxfordshire countryside. Although the village is a quiet and peaceful place to stay, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, all of the major tourist sights are within easy travelling distance. The superb Blenheim Palace, the stately home of the Duke of Marlborough and birth place of Winston Churchill, Silverstone Race Circuit and the Cotswold Wildlife Park are just some of the interesting and exciting places for you to visit.
Our welcoming establishment has provided food, accommodation and ale for traveller passing through our area since the 17th century and we still do much the same today, except that now we provide 8 wonderfully comfortable and well equipped rooms, a superb menu of freshly prepared food and attentive service from friendly and courteous staff. Many of the original features of the building still remain, with low, oak-beam ceilings, flagstone floors and real open fires that create a warm and relaxing ambiance.
All of our rooms are away from the main bar and restaurant, so you will not be disturbed by noise and each room has a high level of facilities, with en-suite bathroom with bath or shower and complimentary toiletries; a work area with desk, lamp, telephone and fax machine; air conditioning; radio alarm clock; hairdryer; colour TV; smoke detectors and hospitality tray with tea and coffee making facilities.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is cosy and intimate, with original exposed stone walls and open fire, the perfect environment for enjoying the exquisite dishes that our talented and imaginative chef creates, a pleasing blend of traditional English fayre and International cuisine.
