This ancient town is located on the river Taw in Devon about 10km inside the county border and about 10km east of Barnstaple bay in the Celtic Sea. A true family holiday destination close to the sea and sand also a couple of educational museums and historic sites to see as well. The largest town in the north of the county and it still is the main market town in the area. the Victorian Pannier Market is worth a look consiting in part of Butchers Row (1855).
