Hotels Battle England Cheap Battle Hotels Guide

Located 8km north of the English Channel and 20km northeast of Hastings itself. This village is aptly named as it was very close to the place where the legendary Battle of Hastings took place October 14 in 1066. Here it was the king Harold's Anglo-Saxon army were defeated by William the Conquerer's Norman forces. Afterwards Willaim was crowned King and the Norman state came into being with his coronation. Battle Abbey was erected by William to comemorate his victory. IN this ruin and throughout you can still feel the sence of the past all over this village. There is also a memorial stone that marks the spot where Harold was killed. A visit to the nearby Telham Hill will give you the same view as William first had of the opposing army. For the fossil hunters Blackhorse Quarry is also close to add to your treasures. When you are searching for where to stay in Battle and around this area of East Sussex we can help.
