Hotels Croydon England Cheap Croydon Hotels GuideThis vibrant and exciting district of Greater London is a great place for either visiting the capital or the majesty of the Surrey and Sussex countryside. The borough itself is a bustling shopper's paradise by day, a great place to eat and drink in the evening and a pulsating social scene at night. It is well served by three railway stations, two of them (East and West Croydon) dropping you off right in the heart of town either side of the area's two biggest shopping centres - The Whitgift and Centrale, both of which stay open late. Being technically both in London and Surrey it has the best of both worlds. Trains from East Croydon Station run direct to and from London Victoria as well as right down to Brighton on the East Sussex coast, making it a great place to be for exploring the whole of the South East. There's also a tram service that runs through the area and across much of South London, so local journeys are easy too. The area has a rich cultural mix and likes to celebrate its diversity with an array of events such as the Croydon Summer Festival which features live music and a large range of activities for all the family. There's also a multiplex in town along with The David Lean Cinema which shows a variety of independent and art house films. If you're visiting for the first time, head to the Clocktower in Katherine Street in the centre of the borough, here you'll find the tourist information centre along with a group of other attractions to start off with such as the Exhibition and Riesco galleries.
