Set in the historic village of Hartington, a village that was first mentioned in the Doomsday Book as Harteoum. Although our hotel does not go back quite that far, it has been an integral feature of the village since the 17th century. The name 'Charles Cotton' was taken from the 17th century author who, along with Izaak Walton, wrote the book The Complete Angler. Located in the very heart of the Peak District we are ideal for those visitors who want to travel around the many attractions that this area has to offer. Alton Towers, Chatsworth House and the spa town of Matlock Bath are all within easy travelling distance.
All of our 17 well proportioned and elegantly decorated single, double and family rooms have all of the facilities that you would expect to find in an establishment of this quality.
The cosy and warm ambiance of our restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy the varied choice of traditional and international dishes, all freshly prepared from only the finest, locally sourced ingredients, your choice of the ideal wine will make your dinning experience something special.
With many spectacular walks and superb scenery it is a shame to have to leave your dog at home. Dogs are welcome in all parts of the hotel, with the exception of the dinning room.
