When you look out on the magnificent beauty of Loch Lomond when it is calm and tranquil and listen to the silence of the surrounding forest, it is hard to imagine that anything unpleasant has ever happened in this beautiful and solitary place. But in times gone by it was the stomping ground of the legendary outlaw, and one of Scotland's most popular sons, Rob Roy McGregor. It was to the Rowardennan Inn as it was then called, that Robert McGregor, one of the sons of Rob Roy, fled to after kidnapping an heiress and it was here that he forced her to marry him in an attempt to get his hands on her fortune. Unfortunately for him it backfired and he was hanged for the offence on the gallows in Edinburgh.
Our establishment is steeped in the history of Scotland and has undergone many changes over its long history, but many original features still remain and help to enhance the richness and character of the building. We have thirteen, uniquely individual bedrooms that are warm and cosy, have magnificent panoramic views and all you need for a peaceful and relaxing stay.
The lounge bar is a comfortable place to sit and chat with friends, enjoy a drink from the bar or sample one of the many excellent malts whiskies that are on offer. Traditional Scottish fayre is served in our dinning room along with a range of English and International dishes, you can be sure that there will be something to excite and delight your palette.
Loch Lomond is a vast expanse of water that has its own moods, while you are here you can take a tour of th loch on our own 37ft cruiser, and see many of the things that you would otherwise miss.
