Picture of Inchrie Castle Inn

Standing high on a hill above the village of Aberfoyle in the heart of Scotland's first national park, our magnificent ancient castle has a long and wonderfully rich history. Now providing superb accommodation for the many visitors to this beautiful area, it has all you need for a wonderfully relaxed and peaceful holiday.

A former 'Keep', Inchrie Castle was built on a hill above the town of Aberfoyle in the 17th century and the history of this magnificent building has been intertwined with that of Scotland, its kings and its parliament for over three hundred years. It was here that the famous Highlander Rob Roy McGregor came in the 17th century and where, almost three hundred years later, a group of dedicated conspirators met and signed the 'Second Covenant' to create once again a Scottish Parliament, from that fateful day the castle became known as the Covenanters Inn and only returned to its original name when the new Scottish Parliament was formed. Many of the original part of the castle still remain, including the dungeon that was carved from the solid rock on which the castle stood, these dungeons became the home of the 'Stone of Destiny' which had been removed by 'Covenanters' from Westminster and brought to Scotland where it belonged.
Our wonderful establishment is full of authentic charm and character and offers guests a rare chance to experience history. With fifty well proportioned and supremely comfortable bedrooms that have been equipped with everything a modern traveller needs for an enjoyable stay.
In our atmospheric dinning room you can enjoy the culinary delights that are created from the finest, locally produced ingredients and served in superbly traditional surroundings.
A magnificent setting for a relaxed break, with authentic charm and elegance plus modern facilities a superb place to make your base when exploring this beautiful part of the country.
