We may be just a short distance in miles, but we are a world away from the hustle and bustle of Newcastle City centre. Our country house hotel is set in a secluded, peaceful and quiet village and provides the perfect accommodation for those who prefer to leave the noise of the city in the evening for a quiet, relaxing nights sleep.

We have 18 well proportioned, elegantly decorated and wonderfully comfortable single, twin and double rooms. Each room is individually decorated and furnished, and has its own special charm and character, but each one has a very calm and relaxing ambiance, perfect to unwind at the end of a long, tiring day or for a romantic weekend break. All rooms have elegant en-suite bathrooms with bath or shower; hairdryer; central heating; opening windows; a work area with desk, lamp, direct dial telephone and modem link that allows internet access via your lap-top; alarm clock radio; colour TV with satellite channels and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits. Non smoking rooms are available on request.

Good stuff: Hotel setting and the fact that it is a small cosy concern - the food is top dollar!!!!

Bad stuff: shower was a bit feeble and the door lock jammed, but they are minor insignificancies

Overall + Stuff we would like to have known: Exc food - small and cosy - lovely looking hotel - staff were attentive - would go back again!

Good stuff: Character hotel which was spotless and welcoming. Excellent service and food.

Bad stuff: The lounge area was small with only a few seats. We were unable to use this area on our arrival, as one guest had several friends visiting her and they took up all this area.

Overall + Stuff we would like to have known: A lovely character hotel which was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable beds! Friendly staff and good breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the black pudding!! Only the small lounge caused a problem, and 10.00am is quite an early departure time - 11.00am would have been better. Overall though a very enjoyable stay.
