Back in the heart of town is Plantasia, a huge indoor tropical garden, which, as well as plants, houses butterflies, lizards, frogs and tarantulas. If you want a taste of the traditional seaside, make your way over to the western district known as The Mumbles. An old Victorian resort, it's the place to be if you want to hire a yacht and explore the bay. It's also in a great location for the city's two premier beaches: the sandy Caswell and the exotic Langland, with its fine sands and palm trees. Swansea is easily reachable via either rail, car (the M4 leads directly here) or, if you're coming from Ireland, you can take advantage of the direct ferry from Cork.
