A perfect location for exploring the delights of this beautiful county. Midway between Oxford and Aylesbury and with the M40 just ten minutes away travel around the region is quick and easy. Our unusual establishment was once a row of tiny cottages it is now a comfortable, if somewhat quirky, place to stay.
If you like your accommodation to be in the style of a modern hotel, where all the rooms are the same size, with the same furniture, same decoration and the same bland feel, then we may not be the place for you. But if you like your accommodation full of character and genuine olde-worlde charm then we definitely have the place for you. When our delightful establishment was built 600 years ago there was no such thing as uniform size rooms, smooth walls or level floors and even the doors were different sizes. All the rooms in the main building have their own little quirks e.g. the door to room 1 is on the stairs and is only three feet six inches high, you enter room 2 through the bathroom and in room 3 the bathroom is larger than the bedroom. The beds have had to be specially made to fit the sloping floors, with two rooms having magnificent four poster beds. The other rooms in the annex are reasonably normal.
Despite all these interesting and unusual features each room is exceptionally comfortable and has all of the facilities the modern traveller would expect with en-suite bathroom with shower; central heating; windows that you can open; colour TV and a hospitality tray with tea, coffee and biscuits.
We have a cosy bar area and lounge with exposed brick walls and open fire with bread oven, the ideal place to relax with a drink or enjoy an aperitif before going into the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant has gained an enviable reputation for superb cuisine and excellent service in refined and relaxed surroundings.
