Welcome to our fine selection of hotels in Oxfordshire. This county is the namesake of the famous university with good reason. Located in the south midlands close to the nations capital but not right on top of it. Regarded as one of the most scenic counties in England. This is a sure-fire destination to make you fall in love with both the agricultural and developed sides of this fair country. There are hundreds of square miles of beautiful scenery to take in, from the Cotswolds to Chiltern Hills, as well as the River Thames and its many tributaries running through the fields. The city of Oxford is famous world over for its towering spires and legendary university and the county's other smaller towns such as Witney, Abingdon and Bicester blend effortlessly into the rolling countryside. Here, small villages with houses made from honey-coloured limestone lie in the picturesque Oxfordshire Cotswolds, stretching out towards the West of rural England. To the East lie Chiltern Hills: a magnificent tapestry of chalk cliffs, beechwoods, clear streams and sunken lanes, which are said to have been the favourite walking place of writer and poet John Milton. While both areas have something different to offer they share the common ground of being designated Areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty and enclosing the county, it's towns and its history on either side with some of the most striking locations in England today. You can get to the heart of the region via the A40 from the East and West and the A34 from the North and South. The central city of Oxford is served by excellent train links with direct trains from London (55 minutes) and Birmingham (1 hour 10 minutes), as well as many other major towns and cities.
