If you are looking for somewhere convenient to stay while you explore the county of Rutland, then our welcoming, family owned and operated establishment is the perfect place for you. Located in the pretty market town of Uppingham we offer a warm and friendly welcome, comfortable accommodation and tasty, home cooked food.

We are just a short drive from the famous Rutland Water, a magnificent man made lake that is now a conservation area of outstanding natural beauty. The county of Rutland is full of beautiful countryside and interesting places to visit and we are perfectly positioned for experiencing it all.
Originally built in the 18th century as a town house our attractive and friendly establishment has been a focal point in the town for almost two hundred years. Many changes to the building have occurred in this time, but the original character and charm, enhanced by two hundred years of history, romance and drama, is still here. In winter you can sit beside real log fires that burn in fireplaces that have warmed generations of guests before you.
All of our 12 well proportioned twin and double rooms have been elegantly decorated and furnished with warm fabrics and wonderfully comfortable furniture creating a soothing and tranquil ambiance, ideal to return to at the end of a long and tiring day. As well as our splendid rooms we also have 3 superb cottages for those who prefer a home from home to a hotel room. Whether you choose an elegant room or a cosy cottage you can be sure of excellent accommodation for your stay. Each room and cottage has en-suite bathroom with bath/shower and complimentary toiletries; central heating; windows that open; trouser press; direct dial telephone with modem link; iron and ironing board; hairdryer; colour TV; security chain; comfortable sitting area and hospitality tray. Superior double rooms and cottages also have a jacuzzi spa bath.
In our restaurant you will find a cosy atmosphere and a mouthwatering menu of dishes, all freshly prepared from only the finest, locally produced ingredients. Select a bottle of the finest wine from our cellar, stocked with wines from around the world to complete a superb dinning experience.
