Sitting just west of London, on land looped around by the River Thames, this town is home to some of the area's best riverside walks and attractions. It shrugged off its humble origins in the 16th Century, when it was granted its first charter by Queen Elizabeth the I, and broke ties with neighbouring Cookham and Bray to become the biggest town in the Royal Borough of Windsor - and it has a lot to show for it. Gaining a fashionable reputation was one of its recent achievements, thanks to some swanky bars and an abundance of champagne parties held in the large houses along the river.
