It shrugged off its humble origins in the 16th Century, when it was granted its first charter by Queen Elizabeth the I, and broke ties with neighbouring Cookham and Bray to become the biggest town in the Royal Borough of Windsor - and it has a lot to show for it. As with many of the Thames Valley towns, Maidenhead is blessed with great transport links provided by the M4 (leave at Junction 8). With express coaches also running from Heathrow Airport and trains from London Paddington (both taking under 30 minutes) - you're spoilt for choice for a way in which to get to this exciting destination.
