Hotels Southend on Sea England Cheap Southend Hotels Guide
Ever since the Victorians transformed the small village of Prittlewell into
Southend-on-Sea, it's been a popular resort for holidaymakers from all over
Great Britain. With the world's largest pleasure pier, some of the best
beaches in Europe and one of the fullest event calendars of any town in the
south east, it's not hard to see why visitors still love to come to
Southend. There is plenty here for everyone to enjoy, however, with
literally dozens of top-class attractions to go around. At the stem of the
amusement-packed pier is Adventure Island, a free to enter fun park home to
over 40 rides. Sea-Life Adventure is just a hundred feet down the promenade
and houses a rainbow selection of tropical fish, stingrays and sharks.
Additionally, every May, the town plays host to Europe's largest free flying
display, the Southend Air Show. Elsewhere, the 12th-century Prittlewell
Priory and half-timbered medieval manor house of Southchurch Hall add an
invaluable historical depth to proceedings, and the ever-changing modern art
and photography exhibitions at the Focal Point Gallery are always worth
catching. In the summer and autumn nights, the seafront twinkles from the
classic multicoloured illuminations, and firework displays run like
clockwork on weekends thereafter. Southend is famed for being the closest
seaside resort to London, and excellent transport links via both road and
rail (the town has five train stations) have made an easy arrival as
traditional as the resort itself! This is the place to look at then book hotels in Southend on Sea. and the surrounding area. All of our rooms at good prices and so convenient for you.
