building described as the most important remaining example of Romantic
architecture in the country. Both the Avon and the Stour flow through the
heart of town and into Christchurch Harbour, their combined area of wetland
forming Stanpit Marsh, a protected wildlife reserve home to many waders,
swans and other bird life. Just north of town is another natural treasure
(only a little bigger this time), the magnificent New Forest National Park,
which stretches all the way from here to Southampton. The award-winning
Alice in Wonderland Family Park recreates the magical world of the
children's tale with rides, themed play areas and a panto-style story time.
It also boasts an excellent maze... but it isn't the biggest in the area;
that's just 2 minutes drive away at Stewarts Gardenlands, which houses the
